 Rai is a top SUP racer representing Japan, shares daily training methods and race strategies exclusively on his members-only page. Live streaming sessions are held twice a month to address questions from fans.

Birthplace: Okayama City

Hometown: Northern Okinawa Island, Yanbaru

At 2 months old, raised by the seaside in Ushimado-cho Nishiwaki Coast, under the management of parents who operate a beach house.
At 1 year and 3 months old, experienced a 3-month caravan lifestyle on the east coast of Australia.
At 3 years old, relocated with family to Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture.
At 4 years old, made snorkeling debut in Imadomari Village, Northern Okinawa Island.
At 7 years old, initiated SUP play as parents began SUP guiding.
At 11 years old, started SUP surfing.

At 12 years old, following victory in the first kids' race, commenced SUP race training under father's coaching. Participated in races as a shop rider for Ohana SUP Okinawa, owned by parents. Achieved technical victory and 3rd place overall in the Boys 11-12 category at the world's largest SUP race, the Pacific Paddle Games in California, within 10 months of racing experience.

At 13 years old, won the overall title at the All Japan Open Junior Class (youngest in the history). He also won the overall title in the Boys 12-14 category at the PPG 2017 in California.

At 14 years old, achieved 6th place overall in the All Japan Championship Elite Class (youngest in history). Won the selection race for the ICF World Championships (International Canoe Federation) and became a member of the Japanese national team.

At 15 years old, placed 6th overall in the Under 17 (U17) Junior Pro class at the PPG 2018 in California. Achieved 2nd place overall in the All Japan Championship Elite Class (youngest in history). Qualified for the 2019 ISA (International Surfing Association) World Championships as a representative of Japan. Finished 19th in the W Downwind and 10th in the course race at the Gorge Paddle Challenge in the USA (world championships). Won the Western Japan Championship. Ranked 7th in sprint and 14th in distance at the APP World Tour Osaka (world championships).

At 16 years old, won the U18 distance, placed 2nd in sprint, and won technical events at the ICF World Championships in Qingdao, China. Won a silver medal in the U18 technical event at the ISA World Championships in El Salvador (highest position for a Japanese person in history). Placed 5th in the men's sprint, 9th in the men's distance, and 8th in the men's technical events. Missed the All Japan Championship in this year due to schedule conflict with the World Championship.

In 2019, couldn't participate in events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon high school graduation, started professional SUP athlete career and joined the same local free-diving fishermen community as father and brother.

In 2022, placed 4th in sprint, 10th in distance, and won a bronze medal in technical events at the ICF World Championships in Poland. Placed 2nd in sprint, 9th in distance, and 4th overall at the APP World Tour London SUP Open. Won sprint and distance events and achieved overall victory at the APP World Tour Busan SUP Open. Placed 2nd in distance and won technical events at the 9th All Japan SUP Championship Race. Placed 2nd in long distance and 3rd in short distance at the 9th All Japan SUP Championship Surfing.

In 2023, became an international rider in Starboard Dream Team, which gathered most of the world’s best SUP athletes.

Placed 4th in distance at the World SUP Festival in Spain. Won sprint and distance events and achieved overall victory at the SUP AZIAN CHAMPIONSHIP in Seoul, South Korea. Placed 9th in sprint, 2nd in distance, and 4th overall at the APP World Tour Viana SUP Open in Portugal. Won bronze medals in technical and long distance events at the ISA World Championships in France. Placed 4th in sprint, 2nd in distance, and 3rd overall at the APP World Tour Busan SUP Open. Won technical and distance events at the 10th All Japan SUP Championship Race, becoming the youngest male double champion in history.
